Free Admission to Discovery Museum for “First Friday Nights Free!” on 5/3!

Discovery Museum welcomes you with free admission to explore on the first Friday of every month. That’s this Friday, May 3, 2019!

Admission is FREE but the museum will gratefully accept non-perishable food donations for the Acton Food Pantry and Open Table of Concord and Maynard. Please note that Discovery Woods closes at dusk.

Last Chance!  The Velocity Engineering Lab until 4/28! Balls, ramps, jumps, loops—and physics fun! Race golf balls along winding, sloping, and looping tracks and explore how gravity, friction, speed, and acceleration affect the velocity and trajectory of moving objects. Five distinct activity areas—a Roller Coaster and Serpentine, Jump Track, Loop Track, Half-Pipe, and Dish—demonstrate the speed, trajectory, velocity, and momentum of moving objects. Using golf balls, kids and their adults can create experiments and compare results with data visualization software that captures multiple test runs. Animated definitions of key physics principles correspond to videos of real-world examples.

Tips for visiting the museum.

We’ll see you on Friday!
