‘Tis the Season! Local causes to get involved with this holiday season.
‘Tis the Season for the spirit of giving!
Check out these Worcester causes you can get behind now and year ‘round! All of the below programs are appropriate for families to volunteer.
The Kindness Coalition of MA
Andrea Castinelli, a local realtor, started her non-profit earlier this year. Her goal was to hold 4 major fundraisers a year to help local families in need. For her first event in Jan 2018, the goal was to collect 50 backpacks for the homeless. The 300 volunteers ended up filling 145 backpacks plus a box truck full of essentials. They are having a “Fill the Bus” event with Santa on Saturday 12/15 at 10am at St. Mary’s School in Shrewsbury. Stop by, or to help out with projects going on all year, visit the Facebook page.
Simon Says Give
High School student Simon Eber is President of the local chapter of Simon Says Give. In 2017 Simon was 15 years old at Forest Grove Middle School and decided he wanted to make a difference in the lives of other kids in the city. At that time, he had raised 7,000 on his own to help provide birthday parties and backpacks to kids in the city. In 2018 he has raised a total of 25,000. He has a team of adults and kids helping him with his mission. Simon currently attends St. Johns in Shrewsbury. Find out more!
